Eye screening changes

On the 1st April 2018, people with diabetes in Berkshire will start to receive the diabetic eye screening programme delivered by Health Intelligence, commissioned by NHS England. The programme will build on the work of the current provider, Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.

Eye screening is a key part of diabetes care to check for diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can lead to sight loss if it's not detected early and treated. Everyone aged 12 and over with diabetes receives an invitation to this service once a year.

The new company will now work closely with Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust to ensure a smooth handover before we begin delivering services on 1st April 2018.
